head exploding wiring idea
« on: April 19, 2010, 03:45:28 AM »
so I been researching wiring and switching options trying to getting my head round it, rotary switches just made my head explode (might try at a later date) and SD tripleshots are a bit expensive when I'm just experimenting

I want to do this, but with 1 switch for both pickups, as I ain't drilling holes

now if my researching is right I would need a switch with 4 poles?

so it work with one of these?

It is a combination ON/OFF/ON and ON/ON/ON switched rolled into one unit

the schematic shows two DPDT switches with a centre 'on' position, you can get them from Allparts...

This switch (JDC) isn't clear if it's on/on or on/on/on. You need, for sure, a 4PDT on/on/on switch or a rotary 4PDT (single waffer, two poles).
Usually, bridge pickups don't benefite very much of parallel wiring, since this is the weakest ouptut mod in the weakest guitar's position but, a very high output humbucker can clean a lot with parallel wiring.

AAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!

reading the OP properly always helps - so he wants to do the parallel/split/blah-de-blah switching for both pickups using just one switch.

in that case, yep, you need a 4PDT switch, but getting an on/on/on version will be a bit tricky (if they even exist).

if anyone has one (or knows where to get one), it'll be Feline - give him a call.

cheers guys, found a 4dtp switch on allparts, out of stock!

was pricing up everything I wanted last night and noticed a review of that that WD switch, it wouldn't do what I want, so I'm going order what I need, order some BKPs, get all that sorted and working, then get a 4dtp switch
