BKPs for my LP Std?

The raw nickel looks nearly as good as the aged, if you don't need the wear marks.  I have it on several pickups now and like the look a lot.  The Black Dog's I just put in have it on the neck cover.  Don't get me wrong, the 'aged' look like they have been in action for years, but if you just want a less shiny look, then the raw are the way to go.

My mate just got a pair for his 63 SG, where a set of new covers would really look wrong!
So many pickups, so little time

Heh, I am starting to get a warm feeling for the RY, and I don't think I've ever heard Steve Stevens's playing (OK, I've seen the "White Wedding" video pass by on the boob tube, but I'm not well up on the early 80s!).

I had been looking for a solid heavy rock pickup not lacking for some chug and punch to go with an hot-but-smooth Abraxas neck -- and I might still be -- but y'all have given me a bit more think about over the coming weeks. Maybe the RY bridge would play nicely with an Abraxas neck (maybe the Abraxas neck pushes less than the Abraxas bridge?), or maybe the RY neck (in a calibrated set) would itself do good smokin'-yet-sexy woman tones?

I've been trying to check out some Emeralds, but there don't seem to be many clips at all in the Players section ....

Take a listen to Derek Sherrinains album, Mythology, there are many guest guitarists on there, but Steve Stevens plays a wicked guitar on one of them.

All right, I finally emailed Tim and he recommended me the Crawlers :)  Funny, 'cause I'm sure someone (maybe Ratrod) recommended them to me soon after I joined the forum, and after months of wavering all the way between Mules and Warpigs, here I am back again.

And I'm sure I remember Ratrod talking about the Santana-ish tones he got from the Crawler neck -- turns out the Abraxas and Crawler use the same neck, DC7.6K Alnico IV (Tims says). So I can aim for those smooth singing leads on the neck, and dig some hefty chunk out of the Crawler bridge. Cool.

Now I just need to choose covers.  I kinda dig the psychedelic-looking burnt chrome 8)  though maybe it might look a little funny on my black LP.  Perhaps just good ol' regular chrome (like what I got, which is a bit boring, but at least I know it looks OK) ....

You are correct.

Yeah, my poor ol' LP looks like its been in action for a while -- but not quite for centuries yet. ;)
Still, the rest of the guitar isn't too shiny any more, so perhaps raw nickel pup covers will suit. :)

Just placed my order for raw nickel Crawlers (and a BKP shirt :))!
If the pups arrive by the weekend, I'll take 'em down to Machinehead in Hitchin on Saturday to be fit over the next week.  A brave new world of better tone awaits!  :D

I would go for the Holy Divers. These are real smooth and cleans up REAL good. Killer for metal, no mud, just fat, and with harmionics that's awesome.
I found myself using the gain-ch on my SLO more or less all the time on our last gig. The HD cleans up that well.
The SLO's crunch-ch did not see that much action and use as on prev. gigs.

Btw, the MM's are also great. A bit more output, but it lacks some of the "vintage-feel" of the Holy Divers.

Good luck!

T.

Yay, pickups arrived!  :D  I'll take 'em down to be fitted on Saturday, should be able to pick them up the following Saturday.  It's gonna rock  :guitar4:

Alas, BKP only had Mule shirts in stock rather than the one I actually ordered, but eh, what can ya do?  Gotta wear the colours  8)
