I'm guessing, but bare and black to ground, white to hot.
Then if it's out of phase with your bridge pickup, swap white and black. The bare wire will always go to ground. :D

By the sound - if the pickups are out of phase the middle position will sound much thinner than bridge or neck, a sort of "hollow" tone with very little bass. It's a pretty cool sound actually, you might like it! :)

right i have the MQ working fine but now in the bridge position the MQ is also active and i have no idea whats gone wrong.
Ive double checked all connections and nothing seems to be connected together
MQ is on position 3 and mm is on position 1 with the central going to the first tag on the volume pot

Any chance you could take a picture of the wiring (or do a diagram)?
I'm assuming it's two pickups with shared volume/tone controls?

I've figured out what it is.
Theres a small gap where the contacts are in the casing for the switch (3 way blade) and a bit of solder has dropped inside and is bridging the contacts.
Ill go pick up another switch tomorrow.
Thanks for all your help Philly

No problem, hope the new switch does the trick.

It does its all working fine now i have a new problem. The screws that came with the ibanez are too wide for the switch but its easy to get new screws.
Thanks again.
