NGD & NPD - another7-string
« on: August 18, 2010, 02:57:43 PM »
Snagged this really nice Ibanez RG1527 for a killer price a few weeks ago.  I've been really enjoying the one I bought from Kieran on this forum last month so I decided that this time, 7-strings were in my arsenal to stay & that I'd better get a spare one :)  This one is absolutely pristine, with the Royal Blue finish which is gorgeous - far better than any pics I've seen or my photographic skills can capture.

Anyway, after a bit of debate, I took it to Feline for the BKP treatment.
In the neck, my favourite VHII
In the bridge: AFTERMATH!! - mega, mega thanks for Tim for winding me this & Jonathan for persuading him to :)

Best of all, we figured out how to get all positions of the Ibanez 5-way to work properly (I really wanted the neck parallel option in #4) - the answer is to get the magnets reversed on the neck pickup.

It's awesome.  I'm thrilled to bits. Between this & the HD-loaded black one, I can do all the low tuned metal brutality I need.  Very happy Antag :)
BKPs: HD, MM, NB, PK, CS, Ab (b&n); Am (b only); VHII, Tril (n only); IT, Slow, Sult (m&n)

Yes - we finally got the RG 1527 wiring licked
We'd seen it often before and it requires a magnet flip in the neck pickup, but it was always a hassle getting all the combinations right.
Ibanez's own wiring diags didn't help much as it's not a direct translation to Bkp colour codes

Fantastic, looking forward to clips of this. I've been toying with the idea of attempting to persuade Tim to wind me an Aftermath for my baritone. :)

Read here or search for posts by MDV containing the word Aftermath :)

I will, one day, do some clips - most likely an Aftermath 7 v HD7 shootout.

But before I do, I need to look at the Blue/Aftermath guitar's setup.  I asked Feline to tune it to Eb/Bb but when I got it back it felt a bit looser & harder to keep in tune than the Black/Diver one.  Then I played them side by side & realised that the Black/Diver one is tuned to E/B.  I'm such a moron   So tonight I will tune it up to E/B so both guitars are in the same tuning with the same string gauge.  B is low enough for me & the black/diver one feels so good in that tuning.
