PG Blues installation and wiring

Just a few quick Q's about installing my new pups;

- should I install the neck pup 'upside down' i.e. so the screw holes are towards, and matching the bridge pup? (I suppose what I'm really asking is, does having the same orientation aid the phase cancellation effect in the middle position?)

- I imagine PG's guitar had 50's style wiring, but was it wired for 'independent' volume controls? (i.e. with pup and switch wires reversed at the volume pot?) The instructions that came with the pups show a 'modern' style wiring.

I know I should probably experiment and see what I like best, but I was after a starting point that was fairly authentic.

Instal the neck with the screws away from the neck (same as PG guitar) is the way Tim shows it, however as it is not a magnetic out of phase, but is electric, I think this isn't really necessary.  The wiring is changed in the pickup, so the pots are wired normally.

Sometimes even GAry had the pickup the right way round too!
Made no difference to the sound as the pickup was electrically out of phase, although some people say there is a slight difference having the slugs nearer the neck rather than the screws when using the neck pickup
