No!  :P

We might differ slightly over matching headstocks on strats and perhaps one two other minor matters of aesthetics, Philly, but... I am in total agreement on this...

Hunter obviously needs some help, poor chap

Yeah maybe someone needs to send me the original guitar for a few years so I can get used to the white bobbins.

You'd just swap them over to black the moment you got it and pretend you were using the cream ones.....  :P

i think i'll use the money back rights. The toggle is scratchy when switching plus I did not expect those tuners to be so vintage. Its like sperzel ones but without locking ability. You can't roll more than once a string in those things :(.

Personally I would put BLACK P90s in it though. I think that woud look a little meaner ;)

Yeah first thing I do on all Gibsons is replace the tuners with Gotoh SD90 lockings. Those Kluson types are a complete joke.

I cannot understand why these expensive guitars don't have proper hardware. For these prices, come on..

 I too get on very well, and indeed prefer, old/vintage style tuners on both Gibbo and Fender type instruments (especially Fender - gimme them slotted tuners everytime)

We're obviously just old(ish) Dave, or something, anyway...

I like "proper" Klusons with the press-in bushings (most manufacturers seem to use the Gotoh reproductions), but on production Gibsons they use those cr@ppy "Gibson Deluxe" Kluson lookalikes with bolt bushings, which are rubbish.  I can't tell what type they are on this goldtop.

Most of my guitars end up with locking tuners, but I have grown to like the vintage slot-head types, string changes are easy with those.  Shame they don't make them in 3x3 sets.

I'll be old(ish) with you.  Once I started using slot headed tuners there was no going back.

 I'm must be even olderish - just had the original Klusons fitted back on my 1963 SG Standard - they still work fine (even after 47 years!)

Now those ****ing plastic saddles they used on TOM bridges are a different matter - really hate those. PDT_045

Blimey, they're a year older than me.... and probably in better shape.  :|

I used to own a 1964 SG and I have to say the Klusons on that one were knackered.  The buttons were crumbling and the tuners themselves worked, but they were ludicrously stiff.  I dare say they could've been "rescued" by being cleaned and re-greased, though.
