value doesn't come into it with such a guitar - its the AIC axe, I just love the vibe of the guitar and it does everything I'd want from a guitar to play the heavier side of things on - Kahler, humbucker, simple controls.  my Mockingbird beats it hands down for 'value', but its not always that simple.

I know what you're saying, and that certainly makes it more desirable, but do you have any evidence it's any good? Many people have bad things to say about the 4 series Kahlers, the pickup is an unkown quantity (and why? He used a JB for the recordings), and like I say, the rest is an indonesian Cort. If it was £400 maybe worth taking a punt on due to the enhanced desirability, but as it is I'd be more inclined to scr@pe together another couple of hundred and get warmoth parts and a 7 series Kahler.

Anyway, for "the" AIC guitar I'd rather have a worn brown mahogany Les Paul  8)

I really like all the G&L tribute guitars i've tried, the nice thing about them is that they use the same pups and bridges as the top end american built G&L's. This probably why they are a bit more expensive then a lot of the budget lines of other companies which use cheaper electronics and hardware for the asian built guitars

if you're referring to the "Would?" les paul, it's not a worn brown/faded/vintage mahogany model
it's an early 90's les paul studio lite
they had stock black hardware (apparently some had gold hardware), maple top, regular glossy lacquer finish and a much thinner body
the late 80's ones had floyd roses and dot inlays

they were made in several translucid and the older ones in some solid colors
I've seen the non-floyd versions in trans brown (this one varied from a light toffee brown to a dark chocolate brown), trans blue, trans red, trans black, trans amber, cherry sunburst, tobacco burst, honeyburst

Jerry uses mostly a black Les Paul Custom, anyway
(sometimes the cream cigarrette burnt and a wine red)

he uses the old G&L's to play Facelift's songs, but at studio, he always recorded everything with both the G&L and a Les Paul to fill the rhythms

I could not spend that sort of money on an asian G&L! far better value buying a used jap axe!

I have no evidence other than web reviews regarding how good it is, my point is that it looks cool and ticks all the boxes for what I'd want.  I wouldn't buy without trying in any case, thats just asking for trouble - I don't have money to waste.  It may very well suck balls, but thats not what got me excited about it.
