Hi all ...
« on: December 20, 2005, 08:24:12 PM »
and a merry f*cking x-mas from a fellow swede :)

New to the forum but not new to the art of playing guitar.
I've been doing that for a while now.

Anyway ... I'm looking for a zebra-pickup for this guitar:

which I'm importing from Japan in a near future.
Does it seem familiar? ;)

... and the reason I'm turning to BKP is that they're new,
fresh, and a little unknown to the public at this point(as far as I know anyway).

My 5 main influences(and my pickup references) are:

Jake E Lee (Ozzy Osbourne, Badlands)
George Lynch (Dokken, Lynch Mob)
Marty Friedman (Cacophony, Megadeth)
Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne, Black Label Society)
Yngwie Malmsteen (I think every guitarplayer knows who Yngwie is ;))

Someone out there oughta know what pickup would suit
these references well, and remember, it have to be available in zebra :D

Take care.

Hi Tim.

Well, the name "Miracle Man" really screams Zakk Wylde
so it could probably fit well.

The only little problem(a tiny one) is that the guitar
is made out of some japanese wood called Sen which
I unfortunately don't know anything about  :?

Maybe you do ?! :)

Hi there and welcome.

What kind of guitar is that?

Sen as a wood was mentioned a while ago on this forum. However, I can't quite remember anymore what it was all about. Wasn't it some sort of oriental mahogany?

Check out some of the clips by Twilight Odyssee. He has a Miracle Man in his main guitar and is a huge George Lynch fan.

Wecome!

1st off, let me congratulate you on locating and obtaining an original Killer guitar. I AM JEALOUS!! Akira Takasaki, among the other guitarists you've listed, is a  HUGE influence on my playing!!

I can tell you that the Miracle Man is the way to go. If you like that classic hi-performance metal sound from the 80s, this is the pickup for you!!!!

A Killer guitar + MM = Back For The Attack + Shadows of War + No Rest For The Wicked. The rest of the tone is up to your amp and fingers!!!

Edit: thanx for the intro, Ratty! :)

I've not acquired it yet, but I've been emailing with
George Azuma who co-founded Killer Guitars with Akira :)
so I'm buying straight from the company, not any dealers :) (if there are any?) it would cost me about 500EUR(dunno if shipping is included).

To simplify my tone-references, I'd like a pickup that does
most of the hi-performance 80's metal(as you said) and also
does alot of newer metal(or heavier).

Checked out the pictures of the black Warpigs
and it looked awesome :D

I'd still like to find out more about that wood(Sen) though.
Google didn't give me much.

edit:

so i found the thread about the Sen-wood and it seems alright :D
Similar to Northerh Hard Ash, like Jake E Lee used in his white/black
strat :D

I've been listening to soundclips of the Miracle Man, the Nailbomb(both by Tim) and one with the Warpig. I dig the MM and NB more so the Warpig
is excluded ... for now :D

actually, I liked the sound of the Nailbomb better than the MM.

as for neck pickups ...

I'd like something very fluid-sounding, while maintaining somewhat
high output that would work well with the Nailbomb :)

That could work too :)
You oughta know ? ;)

As I said ... something fluid, warm but maintaining some
high output so it could match up with the nailbomb in the bridge :)
mainly for tapping :)

and oh, completely off topic ... ;)
I ordered a VISA card today so I might have
the guitar shown above sometime in january
next year.

Anybody interested in a Dean ?! :)

just to add my two cents. the nailbombs have a really nice clean sound as well. currently my guitar is going into my pc soundcard and it has a natural warm sound (obviously sounds nicer in a real amp though).

i read somehwere on this forum that the Nailbomb was
very close to the JB.

let's see ... Jake E Lee mostly used JB's and SDS-1's
(which I think is a Super Distortion in a singlecoil format)
so is there any BKP similar to the Super Distortion ? :)

The Miracle Man is what the Super Distortion wants to be when it grows up.

^i haven't tried the SD, or any bkp's, but going by specs, i'd say a bk miracle man or cold sweat might be similar to a DM SD.

Correct my if I'm wrong, though, forum veterans!

EDIT: gah, too slow! ah well, at least i wasn't wrong, TO!
