Nice looking Strat head. It's like being back in the early 80s. We fully expect you to start wearing spandex and back combing your hair now you've gone all hair metal on us. ;)

haha! this is the result of me slowly getting into Steve Vai and Paul Gilbert. Actually, a lot of bands I like from the 80's and early to mid 90's used guitars like this. Baretta's, Pacers, Gunslingers, various BC Rich's

I think this is a jackson... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJtnxD8s5Lw
Inside Out... GREAAAAAT BAND!
No spandex in sight!

I just had more of a poke around with this. it has metal plates over the trem and electronics cavity! the pot is CTS and the switch looks tidy too! no plastic parts. Even the selector knob is metal. this is a lot of guitar for what it cost. This guitar is opening my eyes to a brave new world, which also happens to be an old world, from the 80's, which happens to be the kind of world I like... kinda

If it's 1990 as the vid suggests and the guitar is fairly new then that's probably an a lower level student (however they were  all custom at that time, so it could be something else) USA Jackson Dinky made in Ontario CA by the looks of it. Bolt on neck and dot inlays would suggest a dinky.

very nice. I've been vacillating about getting one for a while now. Problem is I can't decide which one I want... (not like me... )

apparently those have been selling really badly... like its been a bit of a flop the tele shape.
I read that in a couple of places, and the guy in the shop that sold me mine mentioned it too.
maybe you could pick one up mega cheap ;)

I quite like them and I've been surprised by what I read (if it's true), I like the SD 2 in black, with black hardware and maple neck.

yeah, i know over here there are some deals on the tele-shaped ones. I didn't mind the one I tried, but I vastly prefer the look of the superstrats- I'm guessing most people are the same. Like if you could afford one of each, most people wouldn't have a problem with the tele, but for most people having one of each isn't an option, or even particularly sensible if you could afford all 3 (having a bit more variety is nice, if you ask me).

I played the Strat-shaped Charvels in Guitar Guitar about a month back - really nice.  I seem to recall there were US-made and also Jap ones with only around £150-200 between them.  The neck profile on the US ones were a little fatter and I liked them better, however both were cracking guitars in the £700-£900 range.

I prefer the direct mount pickup look of the Japanese ones. also, the usa one comes with a gig bag, while the Japanese one comes with a heavy hard case. I paid 599. given the spec, playability, and hardcase, I think it's a good deal.

I just got back to London and plugged into the soldano. sounds great. will be better when bkp'd.

that's just $%&#ing sick, i'm always bamboozled by a guitar with less then 5 or 6  buttons and switches to play around with, but i'd take that one anyday
