So what happened there then?  Must have missed that.

Just had a look on his youtube account and he goes to my old school (unless there's another ashlawn somewhere)

yeah, someone posted it in a thread the short time he was here.  Have a search for him.  Can't remember his full name but if you have a look at the last post on the pinned thread of the Tech section, I quoted him and his names there.

He was. Odd.

Why is he gone?

He was kind of not following the etiquette that we all pretty much get the hang of on here
He posted 150-180 posts in under 3 days
He started way too many topics , often pointless rubbish , burying the good stuff and making the forum less of an interesting place to be.
A number of us suggested he slow down a bit , or read some of the 20,000+ topics on here (as many are useful) or even go & play guitar .(he was getting on a few of the regular guys' nerves)

He didn't take the hint , even when it was spelled out to him and in the end posted an image that was considered beyond offensive to some, and certainly in violation of the terms of this forum

It also looks like he was a member of the website 4chan.org where cyber attacks on other forums are seen as sport

He may (or may not) have left of his own free will , but the threads he was on were mostly deleted by mods to resume normal service

yeh i ent sin im in tiem!

I think he felt the full fury of the banhammer. All his posts are gone along with replies made by anyone in his threads. There was one post in particular which referred to a regular poster who he seemed to assume was doing military service in the middle east, I think it made mention of Wootton Bassett and the repatriation of dead soldiers in a less than sensitive way.

I'm putting it mildly. The phrase "see you next tuesday" springs to mind.

Y'know I'm sure you have about the most boring mod job on the internet here.

Just sayin'.

No reason.

Except, y'know, its just us, usual suspects, what else have you ever known us to be but civil?

Dont answer that  (We can be uncivil relatively civilly though )

I just about caught a couple of threads. Silly git. Gave me a chuckle though, and a sigh or ten. Afghans reaction was pretty decisively contemtuous, and rightly so (I did lol at the rocky pic though ).

Seems to me we've had a couple of chaps join with *nearly* comparable....how shall we say, exuberance? But they learned the score and are decent posters now.

In summary/more directly - I'm fine with this guy being gone, but I take a certain degree of vicarious pride in this forum being a civil place of its own accord, by virtue of the members (even if I am from time to time one of the less civil members), not by threat of the banhammer. Not sevenstring.org, basically!

Though I suppose that all hinges on...did he jump or was he pushed...and I suppose I dont need to know.

Some of the hints gave me a chuckle. I participated in some of those hints. AFAIK none I wrote were offensive. If so, sorry.

I missed the offensive pics and Afghan's reaction, though.

I missed the offensive pics and Afghan's reaction, though.

Don't think it got as far as a reaction... he was gone by then

I could imagine Dave having fun and responding that he was (part) Afghan by birth rather than a soldier serving in Afghanistan and seeing what confusion that caused.

Lets just be glad that we see eye to eye most of the time on here and self-police ourselves and move back onto guitar related stuff (that kid has had enough airtime now)

I've got 3 nice NGDs coming up - and they are toys for myself rather than stuff for others that I've built.

I'm glad that we all thought the same thing though, I didn't want to mention it directly but.. this result was the one that everyone wanted I guess, heh.
