Bare Knuckle Ceramic Warpig -does it suit my need? And bridge pickup recs

Hi guys. I thought I should make an account because here looks like the best place to learn about BK pups and ask questions!

After a lot of researching through various pickups I've decided for my new guitar I want something different. I currently own an ESP LTD DJ 600 loaded with EMG 81s and 85. Don't get me wrong I love these pickups although I looking for some which shares similar characteristics but with noticrable differences which will make it stand out. Will the warmpig achieve this?

I'm looking for something that is aticulate, tight with a high output although not to the point of sterile sounding.

The current bands I listen to are Perpihery (progessive metal, think "djent" sort of music like meshuggah) and August burns red (metalcore).

My rig is as follows:

The next guitar I'm on the lookout for is an Ibanez RGA 121 or a 321 model (natural finish). Note this model has discontinued so I would also be grateful if you guys could give me a shoutout where to find one!

I would love if you guys could share you particular experiences for this pickup or even suggest something better? I'm assuming this pickup will be placed in the bridge postion. I'm haven't even begun to think however which pickup would suit for a bridge postion.

The warm-pig would be the A5, thats not really what you want.

The c-pig woud do you but you should probably get an aftermath.

What would the pros and cons of the aftermath be compared to the Warpig?

The cpig is for Death metal. Aftermath is more in the vain of what you're looking for

The aftermath certainly sounds sexy. So how would I fit it into this guitars setup? I'll probably go for the calibrated open set so would I just stick that in the bridge postion? I'm not sure what would happen with the pickup in the neck postion then..

Let me warn you before you go and get a rga 121. i had the rga 121 once. and the bridge allows you only to use strings below 56 size. If you use thicker strings, then you cant fit them into the bridge.

I had the 121 with violin finish. Super sexy, and playable guitar. But the bridge is $%&#ing stupid made. Get one of the newer models if you plan to use power cable thick strings like me :)

Nah I don't think I'll be using any strings of that thickness anytime soon but thanks for the heads up. All I can seem to find on the internet is violin finish ones. I would do anything for a natural finish 121 or 321...

I know that they keep a quite static price because they became extremely popular. but do yourself a favor and get a newer version with a better bridge. Like this.

just try it out first and do your own quality control :) My best ibanez is made in indonesia. I've had numerous japanese ibby's. but the indo's the best i've had

Wow that looks sexy. Are the rga121/321 bridges really that bad? I was told they were well renown for their fantastic build quality.

The only thing i have against that bridge is the space problem.
The new gibraltar's have fixed that problem. so my advice would be for you to get a new non-prestige model. for the price of one of the old prestige's you can get two new.

I have the RGA 121 NF. Really cool looking and nice playbility.
The bridge is a thing of its own. Nice palm rest, but string-through-body design would have been more intelligent if you ask me... Be aware that the non-prestige models dont have these super-thin-necks - thats the main reason why I love Ibanez guitars.
Had first put EMGs in it but now its loaded with painkillers =)

Anyway, I dont play it that much since I bought a J Custom last year and put an aftermath set in it  :shock:

How would you compare the aftermath to your emgs?  Could you also answer my question in regards to what would happen if I installed the the pickups in the bridge postion (it's a few posts up)

i've got a .59 in mine and yes, there's no way to get the ball inside the socket, but it doesn't seem to affect tone or sustain

Haha dude i tried that too, and suddenly the string fell off during a jam. And that just sucks :P
