"unfortunately" that's simply basswood. it sounds nice, anyway!
Mine didn't sound that great in Drop B with a Painkiller. And by mine, I mean my basswood RG, lol
i don't know... i had a bridge painkiller in two mahogany guitars, and wasn't happy with either... my Ibz S had an unpleasant hi-mid spike and my LTD EC1000 sounded muffled (non entirely bad, but not what i expected). both guitars are reborn (the EC1000 slays!) with a ceramic nailbomb in place of the PK. here the PK sound more or less exactly like it should... middy as hell, but balanced and powerful. and very, very aggressive!
