Yep, shock of all horrors, I've stripped down the stable to my absolute bare minimum.  No excess flab, all the extra fat has been completely trimmed and I'm now super lean.  Thought some folks might be interested to see what's been kept, and it's also my duty to put PhillyQ to shame

I'm actually really glad I've come down from a high of 28(!) at one point, and gone for quality over quantity.  It's been really therapeutic and I've ended up with some absolutely amazing guitars.  I almost sold a couple of the ones below recently, but common sense (or a stern word from Mrs Twinfan!) prevailed.  I think I have a nice range of tones to call on, and I feel very fortunate that I have such a great collection and a very understanding wife  8)

Before Fernando shouts at me, this thread is worthless without pics right?  ;)

First up, the working guitars:

PRS McCarty Korina with Brazilian Rosewood fretboard and BKP Emeralds
(my only BKP'd guitar  )

Fender Custom Shop '50s Top Bound Esquire
(bought from Ian Price here on the forum and now sporting 50s pinup decals front and rear)

PRGuitars SGR Standard #001
(now fitted with an uncovered DiMarzio PAF in the bridge to match the covered PAF Classic in the neck)

Then there's the special guys:

PRS Modern Eagle with solid Brazilian Rosewood neck
(my go-to guitar and absolute #1)

Gibson Custom Shop '59 VOS Pearly Gates reissue
("Francine", knocked down into position #2 now the honeymoon's over)

Fender Custom Shop '58 Telecaster
(Mrs Twinfan's favourite - "Ruby Tuesday")

Finally my very first electric:

Fender Squier '62 JV Strat from 1983
(now fitted with David White Old Glories pickups, black pickup covers, knobs and trem tip again like she was in the late 80s/early 90s, and a Callaham trem block as the original stripped)

Good for you Dave and the main thing is you've kept the best of the best. I told you a while back that I had to do a similar thing (14 electrics, 1 bass and 1 electro) and now I'm down to 5 electrics plus the bass and electro. You have some fantastic pieces there mate, you'll be able to play them more purely due to less rotation. Nice one.

Loving that Esquire Dave, what idiot sold it to you ;-) . And the Tele. I'm determined to get another CS one day. For now the Baja will do.

Very sensible trimming of the collection. Whilst I was bored in the hospital today I listed all of the guitars I have owned. There are only 2 on there I regret selling. One was a CIJ 62 custom. No prizes for guessing what the other is!
I think I hate being indecisive.

A collection to be jealous of. The tele's look great, especially the Esquire.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

Thanks guys.  I wasn't sure whether to post or not, as I don't want it to come across as bragging   I thought it might be interesting for those who've known me a while to see how the collection has shrunk in recent times.

The three working guitars are in regular use, as is the Modern Eagle.  Francine comes out when I'm in the right mood and the Strat and the Tele get played the least.  It's actually really refreshing to play a smaller number of guitars more often and really bond with them  :)

I guess I've learnt that you should buy the best quality guitars you can, and REALLY get to know them.  It's quality over quantity every time for me from now on.

I don't see it as bragging Dave. It's not like you're some banker who buys status symbol type guitars and never gigs them (or never plays them). Keep up the good work - we all need stuff to aspire to.

28? I didn't know you were that bad!

If you could post pictures of those 28, that would be cool!

the first prs(with emeralds) is stunning, maybe it's the colour or because it's new looking, but that's the one that lights my fire.

Yea, what happened to the vintage ('65?) SG? It's a collection that's a far cry from the days of the 3 identical RGs! :P

I remember that one being in seconds out last year (I think). I would have snapped it up if I had the cash!

Awesome stuff. Maybe we should have a thread for this? Would be interesting to know what everyone is using (well to me anyway).
