Yeah... I'm definitely not anywhere near the same ballpark as Zakk Wylde or Nick Catanese... and like I said, I'm not particularly a big Zakk or BLS fan either, but to help put it in perspective, the PRS can be had for under 2k, the Zakk for about 2k, and I just lost out on a deal that could have gotten me a Standard for 1.5k.  I know another guy selling his Standard for about the same price, but I hate the fact that it's a sunburst just like every other LP I've ever seen in my life.  So by far, the Zakk is easily the best deal.  I could turn right around and list it on eBay if I really wanted to.

I just came home from the guitar shop... I must have played that Zakk Wylde for about 2 hours straight.  I really don't want to like that guitar, but it feels so comfortable when I play it. They also have a pacific reef Les Paul Standard, but they want 3.5k for it!  I may just try to sell more guitars than I had planned for and buy 2 out of the 3.

And of course I happened to find another deal... a tobacco burst Slash Gibson LP for 2.3k... and I know I could probably talk the guy down to 2k.

I hate making these kinds of decisions.

if you're looking for an investment, you're barking up the wrong tree with all the guitars you've mentioned - I doubt any of them will considerably appreciate during your lifetime.

go for 60s Gibsons if you want an investment - Les Paul juniors are still affordable, and SG juniors even moreso.

Never buy a guitar as an investment - play the stockmarket or buy property  :)

Buy the guitar that speaks to you the most, and you won't go wrong  :)

As a note some PRS SCs are 24.5 inch scale (eg the SC245 model), others are 25 inch scale (SC250, Singlecut, etc).

If you're looking to hold resale value, buy used. The PRS market is in the can right now so you can pick up some good deals if you shop around. They also tend to be owned by people who look after their kit. Not sure what the Gibson market is like, it probably hasn't slumped like the PRS one though!
A-Pig 7s, Miracle Man & Mule, Cold Sweats... Expensive kit and no talent posse.

I'm abstaining due to the lack of stratocaster or telecaster options

Hahaha... you know I've never been a fan of Strats or Teles.  I just don't really play many single coils and I'm just not comfortable with the 25.5 scale length... but there is a really nice USA candy apple red Tele with full body binding that I could pick up for about 1k... and it is kind of tempting.

And don't get me wrong... I was joking about the college tuition thing.  I'm sure nothing will recapture the same value as an early LP... I don't care who's signature guitar it is.  I just hate buying a brand new guitar and knowing that as soon as I walk out the door I just lost about half of my money.  And whatever I do end up getting... believe that it will not be a case queen and I will be playing and gigging with it regularly.  "All show and no go" is definitely not my philosophy.

2k for a zakk wylde camo is a great deal, but I'd rather pick a late 70's non-signature les paul custom with the maple neck for the same price (or less)
I bought my '73 custom on ebay for less than 1900 a couple years ago
you can still find them around 2k, specially the 78-83 ones

I love PRS guitars and had 4 of them, 1 being a SE, but les pauls just sound more dense and massive
I usually like les paul necks better as well, but they vary a lot (the '73's neck is thinner and more comfortable than the 60's slim taper they make today)

I agree with Twinfan. Go with the one that just feels right for you.  Another option check out Feline guitars sale page there is a Purple quilted top lion for £1500.

as I've mentioned before, if Les Paul was still around today he'd be playing a Feline Lion  8)

The Zakk Wylde Bullseye is great and looks gorgeous, I prefer the white one.
The CAMO Wylde with that maple neck is horrible and should be thrown into the fireplace immediately!

Of those choices I'd probably go with the PRS - especially because you already have Les Pauls. I have the Voodoo myself, along with an ESP Eclipse, and I find it very hard to see any reason I should ever get another LesPaul. They just cover too much ground already between them.

For some strange reason I keep finding a lot of killer deals...

Not only do I know someone who is selling a regular Bullseye, but I just found another guitar that may be in the running...

USA JACKSON KELLY CUSTOM in pearl white... from the early 90's in mint condition... and it plays awesome... and it's cheaper than all the other guitars... I may just buy this one.
