Dear BKP lovers,
I heard nothing but good reviews about BKP products. So I am here.
Just moved from Strat to SG with P90s, found the stocks to be muddy, boomy, woody and uncontrollable. Changed the pots and caps (550+, 0.22 Spragues) and purchased a Blue Note (which is on the way) just by reading the homepage of BKP website, aiming to have a smooth balanced open, airy, stratty tones from the neck for mostly jazz, blues classic rock tones.
My chain includes a lot of FX (mostly boutique fuzzes and boutique muff clones) and amplifier is a Hiwatt custom 20.
I am not a metal/thrash guy and never had a hot pickup before but the interesting thing is many of my dream guitarists use hot pups and neither of them play metal which confuses me a lot. Frank Zappa, Al Di Meola are just two of them.
Having the BLUE NOTE at the neck for clean and classic tones and rythm work, looking forward to make my SG more versatile by adding a hotter pup at the bridge for a more agressive characteristics humbuckerish tones, besides leaning towards to SUPERMASSIVE unable to decide.
Would it be a good match for Blue Note or an overkill or will have volume/noise issues? Nantucket would be a much more wise choice? Or "hottest is the best and get a Pig 90" ?
Any comment/experience/help would really be appreciated and wishing to be a further enlightment for those who might have similar questions
P.S.: I sent these questions to BKP (to Mr. TIM) several times during last 2 weeks but did not get any reply from him/them since. I hope will get better success here.
