New Amp Build Project

I'm picking up an old amp with a similar layout to a super lead.
2 input, 8 controls on the front. the chassis is drilled for a 100watt setup but only populated for 50watts.
space for 4 power valves, and 4 preamp valves already. layout is very similar to the superlead with the HV caps between the power and output transformers.

I want to work on this on and off and try a few things out in it. I'll probably build another high gain of sorts.

There are some bits id like to try, like a filtered IEC socket (just to see if it makes a difference). I'd also like to beef the power up to 100watts and try split bias. maybe mix 6550 and EL34 output valves. Maybe use a cathodyne PI a la VHT.

could do a really slow build dairy?

I've been thinking about learning how to build amps, so it would be great to see a diary to give me that extra drive :)

Im also interested about the filtered IEC's its something i've never tried but have thought about.

i might do that first. so i can get a good A/B comparison. best chance to see what difference it makes.
I want to reverse engineer the DC heaters in my Avenger too. maybe.

should get the amp (or amps) today.

I just wondered, I know where you can probably get all the pots and wires for an amp. But what do you actually do when it comes to the circuit boards, etc?

well if you had all the stuff you could design and etch your own. I've etched boards when i was in high school, but nothing complex.
Or, you can buy various board materials and use eyelets or turrets to wire parts point to point. obviously you can mix and match. just depends on what your trying to build.
