Never heard of this Peavey model before, but I have a "cheapo" Peavey Zodiac bass (very JB-inspired), and while not pretending to be compete with a good true JB it's still amazing for the money - decent wood, half-decent hardware (which is already more than what you'd expect here), clean finish, very playable and well, on the right amp it really delivers the good rock tones. Pickups/pots set apart, it's not far behind my son's MiM PB (and that one had it's pup swapped for some SD).
