Currently I'm using a Fender Blues Junior for the smaller gigs we do. It sounds nice on low volumes, but at soon as turn everyting a bit up, the topend gets too bright and thin when I play singlecoils. When I use the fatknob it's gets a bit mushy on the lowend and I need big cleans for a lot of songs. Btw, the BJ sounds better with IT's then MM's.
I'm thinking to sell it and buy something compact with (just a bit, bigger venues are the domain of my Orange Rockerverb 50. ) more power and weight behind the tone. I'm considering the Tubemeister 18 combo, but is has only a 10 inch speaker and I'm afraid it will sound wimpy at higher levels. The cab that comes with the TM-head has a 12 inch V30. Point is the combo comes with reverb and the head not. Ok, that could be solved with a pedal, but will cost extra. I read on the net the two channels are difficult to balance when you set them both for their sweet spots. Cleans could be a bit too spanky too. I want round clean tones. Any experience here?
Also looking at the Orange Thunder 30 combo. Again, this one will need a reverbpedal too. I like the sound of the TH30, played it a bit in a shop, though at lower volumes. I will need to pump it up on stage, cause the drummer can play loud at times (he was between 2002 and 2006 the drummer of Epica - sic). Any opinions on this one? Will the cleanchannel keep a round tone at higher volumes? Are the channels balanced? I need to switch a lot.
Any other suggestions? Thx guys!
