I don't know s**t about the "Haynes Fender Telecaster Manual", but I've been setting up my axes by myself for quite a few years now, did my share of experiments to find out what difference it can make wrt/ both playability and tone - and it's huge - and my humble opinion is that whatever is written in a book, you have to sort out by yourself what works for _you_ for _this_ guitar. Even with two very guitars taht are very close wrt/ neck radius & profile, bridge and pickups type and layout etc, I end up with sensibly different action to get the same feel and playability (I guess the frets and nut make most the difference, but there's also something that really belongs to the guitar itself IMHO).
Oh and yes, a Telly can be a real bitch to set up properly - well, Tellies ARE bitches anyway, but that's why we love them, don't we ? :mrgreen:
