Author Topic: laney lc30 or matamp minimat? (Read 11396 times)

ok so im thinking of selling my lc30 original to get a minimat that ill run trough my crate..... good idea or not good iea? how are they compared to each other... ive never tried a minimat so need some advice... is it worth selling the laney?

my other option is to sell the crate and get a hotplate... this is because i really prefer my crate at the moment cause the laney isnt anything special at low volumes at all...

so which option is worth it: selling the crate for a hotplate for my lc30 OR
selling the laney for a minimat to run through the crate....???

yer but i never will be able to crank it thats the point! and there no telling what it would sound like if i did get the chance to crank it...

hahaha i wish! so far the loudest my master volume has been is.....wait for it....... THREE! A WHOLE THREE!

the neighbours would crucify me as would my parents if i had it any higher than that.... usually i have to have it even lower! and at our drummers house where my band practices the neighbors are even worse- they complained when my master was at LESS THAN 1!!! and my guitar volume was like 0.5 as well!!! this is why i need a hotplate.... quick....

Ah, OK. You need a decent rehearsal space then. A bugger I know, but worth it in the long run.

running a minimat through a crate (solid state by chance) would be a sin.

thing is with rehearsal spaces... we have a purpose-built shed with sound insulation, carpet, air-con, electricity (of course), lighting, windows, custom paint design, (AND we used to have a giant bean bag) but the neighbours STILL complain even when we're in our own little world down the bottom of our drummers garden... ITS NOT FAIR!

Do you mean carpet on the walls for sound isolation/ If so then only the higher frequencies will be absorbed, leaving the bass frequencies untamed. It'll take something a lot more substantial than carpet to muffle a decent drummer, rockwool behind a second false wall seems to be a favourite. of course I may have misread your post entirely... :?

what i meant is it has some sound insulation between the walls- the rest of the stuff i listed was just to show that we've spent a whole lot of cash on the place doing it up and it would be a pain if we werent allowed to play there anymore cause of the neighbours complaining...

but what was that thing you mentioned- 'rockwool'?
