Decapitated Tone.

So, lately I have "Carnival is forever" by Decapitated running on repeat every day. The tone on the album is unreal, for those who don't know it:

I know Vogg, their guitarist uses EMGs in his guitar (81) and the rythm tracks were recorded with a Crate Excalibur Solid State Amp. Now I have decided to put a Ceramic Nailbomb into my Ibanez (Baswood, Maple Neck and Fretboard) and I'm wondering if the C-Bomb could achieve such a tone? Not considering the amp. I read a few times that the Miracle Man is closer to the EMG 81.

Opinions?

If you want an EMG tone then why not just go EMG? i love the Cbomb in my guitar, i think its a very versatile pickup which excels in metal.
 I havent got experience of the Miracleman (though I would love to try one) but when I asked Tim regarding what pickup was closest to the EMG 81 his answer was the Painkiller.

I want something that has as much power as the 81 in terms of pressure, the raw sound in the clip. I don't want a EMG because I don't want my guitar to be equipped with a battery, to me it's just... wrong. Neither does it have to be a "clone" :P

Since I got my first Bareknuckle I don't want any other brand because BKPs are really worth the money imo ^^
I'm just unsure if the Ceramic Nailbomb will be able to achieve a similar raw sound for such heavy riffing, so I'm looking out for folks that have experience with the PU

Go SD blackouts then  :D  Having a battery isn't much of a hassle seeing they last a few thousand hours.  You get that tone and nice pick response.  I has a c-pig in my 7 string and it, for power, blew the actives away.

I went actives as I like Fear Factory.  It's what they use and I have no issues with batteries.  It also gave me reason to buy a Les Paul.  Needed something passive  :)

I think that that sound has EMG all over it and youre never going to get anything but a somewhat similar cousin 3 times removed with anything else.

That said, the AM is the best bet of BKs for its mid grind. I have lots of experience with the C-Bomb and its high end and high mids are too polite and tailed off for that kinda thing for starters.

I'd say if EMGs were used, you can't go wrong with that. Great sound is just as much a result of the production. Of course a Miracle Man will do as well probably.

I agree. I had a set of blackout AHB1s and they were quite possibly the worst pickups I have ever played. muddy overgained and really flabby in the lows.

Replaced them with various pickups all of which were far better.

I'll agree with MDV and say EMG>Aftermath>EMG if the the aftermath didn't do it for you  :D

I should say I do prefer EMG's (X series and Het set) over AHB1s.  ABH1s do what I want but are a one trick pony.  But back on topic, I'd send an email to the guys asking about Aftermaths.

Well, as said EMGs aren't an option for me. However I've emailed BKP and got a response from Tim. The ceramic Blackhawk should do the trick. And don't worry, I'm perfectly aware that it won't sound exactly like this ^^
As said Vogg is using EMGs and playing the rythms with a Crate Excalibur head, which is a really old solid sate amp. The guitars aren't double tracked either, for a raw, Pantera like sound. I don't know how exactly they did it, but the sound is really amazing to my ears. I'd really recommend to watch the short studio report, a lot of interessting stuff to see :)

Well after listening to that youtube link I'd say that there's a lot of character that the amp is imprinting on that sound; the pickup probably is really relatively unimportant for that sound.

EDIT:
I think the Rocktron Metal Planet might be something that could get you to that sound.
