Your description fits an Aftermath very well, but at the same time I have a hunch that you want something slightly less hyper-tight. If you're doing a lot of start-stop riffing that requires IMMEDIATE volume drop, then the AM is an amazing PUP. I played a PRS HFS for awhile and just recently upgraded...or switched to the AM. The AM is a rather "cold" sounding PUP to me, and lacks a bit of dynamics that PAFs or my PRS PUPs had. The AMs also have a distinct "metallic" sound (hence the cold description I suppose). All that being said, I've noticed they also have a very distinct "tube-y" throaty sound when you dial in the right EQ, which is the exact tone I've been after for years; they also pick up (see what I did there!) on tapped notes than any other pickup I've had. I'm not joking when I say I tried tapping and it was like "Oh, so THATS how effortless it's supposed to be?!" Also the neck pickup is extremely smooth sounding, albeit does still have the "compressed" sound that you find in the bridge.
Regarding the "brightness" in the bridge, it's really not that noticeable and also depends on the wood and what you're playing through. I have mine in a mahogany body with a maple top and I think they sound perfectly balanced, not too dark, and certainly not shrill (stay away for the Painkiller btw, it's apparently VERY shrill).
Basically, the AM is gunna be the tightest PUP you'll find and gives you extreme note clarity regardless of the distortion levels. Also, they will show your technique, for better or worse. So if you're sloppy, they'll sound sloppy, or if you're tight they'll sound stellar.
I don't know if anyone's mentioned the Warpig or Blackhawk, and I personally have no experience with either PUP, but I've heard nothing but praise for either of them so I'd recommend checking some clips out of those
