New Black Sabbath album '13'
« on: February 11, 2013, 12:34:49 PM »
Just read Ozzys recent comment about the album sounding like Satanic Blues. That should be used to name it. Satanic Blues would be a great title. It would make me want to hear the music. 13 is so unimaginative it makes me think the music will probably be the same.

I hope it's better than Megadeth's album of the same name......

I must confess, I had no idea they were anywhere near completing a new album.  I wonder what it'll be like?

I can never quite get my head round the fact that it's 20-odd years since the last Sabbath studio album.  They've been inactive almost as long as they were active.

I hope its good, but I can't help but feel it will be something they should have left alone.

I personally can't wait.  I loved the Heaven and Hell stuff, I appreciate that Dio was in another league in terms of vocals, but Ozzy Sabbath is still kinda special to me.

Just wish Bill Ward was playing.

+1000

It's hard to fathom for me that Brad Wilk from RATM is drumming on the record, I just think that was a really odd choice. Hope it works out though, I'm definitely looking forward to hearing this (though I am looking forward to the eventual tour even more!)

Not so much if you think of him as Brad Wilk from Audioslave - there are some awesome Zeppeliesque grooves on those albums.

I can't believe how little I knew out this album.  I feel hopelessly out of touch.  :|

But to replace Bill Ward and drum on the first Black Sabbath record in 20 years? I don't know....

It's a tricky situation.  I know they fell out will Bill over some silly contracts issue, so he's out.  I guess Vinny Appice was always more Rionnie's man than Tony's or Geezer's, so maybe he wasn't considered.  And if you bring in Tommy Clufetos or whoever, it becomes perhaps too much of an "Ozzy album".

I assume it was Rick Rubin's idea to get Brad Wilk.

All good points. I'm sure any drummer in the world would be licking their chops at the prospect of playing on the new Sabbath record, they probably had their pick of the litter as well.

Have Rick and Brad ever worked together?

Audioslave

Yep, and I think Rubin had some involvement in producing RATM's Renegades as well.

It's been $%&#ed for years. I found an early concert from Sabbath recently where he was singing unprocessed and it was awesome. Not a chance these days.
