I have an SG '73 standard. Lots of mids when playing unplugged.
Currently I have the original humbucker (don't know which model) in the neck position, and a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge. The reason for the bridge pickup is because I love the sound from it in a Strat I have, but I was disappointed with it in the SG. It sounds too thin, and I have been told to get either Lollar Imperial or a pair Bare Knuckles, f.ex the Riff Raff.
I play through hi-gain Marshalls (DSL 100) and I want a tight sound, well defined mids and highs, transparent distortion (strings separate clearly). Sounds like 90's Green Day and that sort of thing.
What do you think should be my pickup of choice in the bridge?
And I miss my Fender twang in the neck position. Of course I could use my Fender for this, but when on the road it's not always ideal to bring too many guitars. Read some places that a set of P90s in the neck would do the trick. Any experiences with that on an SG anyone?
