FINALLY got my 10th Anniversary Pups installed this week after them sitting at my parents' house for months waiting for me to get back from China. Wasn't sure which guitar to put them in but in the end chose to go with my Seth Baccus Single Cut and my god it turned out to be a good choice. The guitar had previously got a Nailbomb/Mississippi Queen in it so quite a change. The guitar itself is mahogany body/neck and rosewood fretboard.
I have to say that I really really like the new pups. Nearly all of my other pickups are at the hotter end of the spectrum, but I was struck as to quite how good these sound. Incredibly open and airy, articulate and clear. I know that BKPs are clear, but even my Nailbomb sounded pretty compressed in comparison. They are bright and sit really well in the Mahogany/Rosewood, not at all harsh, nicely rounded. The neck pickup on cleans is beautiful and I have it wired in series/parallel on a push/pull tone pot for added versatility.
The bridge pup is great also, has more poke than I expected and certainly good for anything up to Hard Rock, tightens up a bit with a boost, but not what I would use for Metal really. I spent a good hour in GnR heaven!
Looks-wise I'm impressed, I wasn't totally convinced about the engraving when I ordered, but especially with the brushed nickel now that they are installed it looks pretty subtle in most lights.
Hugely impressed, but now looking at which other guitars I can experiment with more low output BKPs!
