volume(guitar) on full by the time it reaches no 2

the volume pot on my guitar isn't working properly, the volume goes on and off very suddenly when you turn it. it's on full wack by the time you reach no 2.

i replaced the volume pot with a new one, and also i replaced the capacitors and some of the connecting wires with higher grade ones.

does anyone know why i am still having the same problem with the volume pot?

any suggestions would be appreciated

Are you guys playing Gibson style guitars?  If so, this is pretty common, they don't have a very good roll off at all.  My gibson goes from zero to about 70% volume between 1 and 2.  I have a tele that rolls smooth all the way from 1 to 10.

yea, mine is tokais copy of the SG, the thing is, i didn't have this problem until i installed the new pup, i don't know if i've done some damage to a component somewhere that i can't find.

and besides, even if it is a common problem surely it should be rectifiable.

yea i used an audio taper, aren't you only supposed to use linear for tone as apposed to volume. i believe that most companies use audio for both volume and tone anyway.

my ibanez has this problem ; i never really thought about it as a problem before though. who actually uses their guitar's volume for volume? i just use it for controlling the output of the pickup - and weather i want it dirty or clean
