Yep, Tele's are the business as far as I am concerned. I got mine as an accidental purchase about 8 or so years back for £200.00 anmd i played it a fair bit but it was when I got Country Boys for it that it really came to life. I also opened a case at a gig thinking it had my Strat in it when it had my Tele and I had no option but to use it for that gig and since then it has been No 1.
As has been said, they must be the most versatile guitar around. I can't say I've always been a fan of them and once thought they looked a bit weedy but I love the look now (same thing happened with SG's- I love them now but didn'ty when I was young).

I like the idea of a black pick guard but mine is a 1950's reissue in sunburst- not so sure it'd look good. My white guard has aged well ( and the soaking in tea helped it a bit too). Yorkshire tea seemed to do the trick though I had to sacrifice a bag but it was worth it.

Imo a white guard looks better on sunburst. That's why I kept the plain white guard on my sunburst American Series. I still have a white pearloid plate lying around though.

As of now, I don't think I'm putting the MQ on the tele. Reason for this is that, being the tele S/S routed, the body would have to be routed to an humbucker size on the neck.

Worse: my MQ is long legs, so I would almost end up with a hole from front to rear. It's not that this is an expensive/rare guitar, but I'm not keen on doing this.

It's getting expensive then... The tele needs strap-locks, a black pickguard, new electronics (does bkp sell solid shaft pots?) and a bkp tele set (pending to BG flat 50s, but will open a thread when the time is right).

THEN... I need an SG to put the MQ on  God, my wallet hates me.

Good news is, I love the neck on the telecaster with the small radius fingerboard. My mij strat copy also has the same radius (and maple fb) and I also love it.

That's fair enough. When I did it, the cost was minimal but you definitely want to be sure! Glad you're enjoying the guitar as it is though and I reckon some BG Flat 50s would do you well. In my Tele I have a Flat 50 neck and and Flat 52 bridge and lovel 'em both.

Andrew, I think I remember seeing pics of the routing on your's, and it looked extremely clean. Your MQ was short leg though, no?

I could try one combo like that, but it would be the other way around: 52neck + 50bridge.

I knew someone with competence and a router! And yes, I had a short leg MQ.

Would be worth trying. The Flat 52 neck is supposed to be very Strat like I believe.

The BG52-neck is quite stratty indeed.

That looks cool, but a black guard would be even cooler IMO. The price was very good too, I can see why you like your mate!  :D

It will have one, as soon as I'm sure if I need one routed for single or humbucker sized  :)

Aha  :D we are good friends and former band-mates, we have alot of stories from that time  8) On the other hand, at some point I sold him my LP and later bought it for double the money, so I would say we are even now
