Volume taper issue
« on: January 08, 2014, 10:55:26 AM »
I'm after some advice..

I have Mule neck and Riff Raff bridge, 2 conductor with a push pull tone and volume bypass switch (on tone control), audio taper volume pot.

The volume control did all the changing between 10 and 8, I thought this was the affect of the treble cut from the volume pot, so I installed a treble bleed.  Now the volume control only does anything between 0 and 2,  and it's left me scratching my head.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can improve the sweep of my volume pot?

if it's a log taper swap it for a linear taper & vice versa. they sell 'em at bkp.

Almost all volume controls are log taper.

If you're in a mood to experiment with tapers then you can get a 500k lin pot and put a 500 kohm resistor across it and it becomes a less linear 250k pot.

And if you're in a mood to experiment with tapirs then you should probably go to the zoo.
