Incoming NGD
« on: October 24, 2014, 07:53:06 AM »
I've decided to replace some of my cheaper guitars with nicer ones. Not that the others are bad I just fancy a change! So out is going the RGA42FM And the RG331 and this should be arriving tomorrow morning.

Ibanez RG721 CNF Premium.

I was going to order some Blackhawks to go with it as I think they would actually suit this guitar both sonically and visually but I my other RG premium has stayed stock because the pickups in it were decent so I will give them a whirl first and take it from there. Also once the RGA42 sells I will have an EMG JH set kicking about.

Oh yeah also a little about the guitar. It is basswood (surprise surprise) but with a rosewood top and a maple/walnut neck with a maple inlay for the headstock logo as well. The bright is an Ibanez Tight end R with every fully locked into place once set up.

You know it's not really my kind of thing but it's a lovely looking guitar.  Nice timber!

Haven't seen that bridge before, it looks very solid.

Very tasty.  Has a Blackmachine vibe, I think.

Looks great, very handsome. If it were me I'd get nickel covered pickups and nickel hardware as I reckon it'd set the whole thing off but when I think about it, that's pretty much what I'd do any guitar....

That's one of the best looking Ibbys I have seen. Actually it would concider playing this myself and I don't really like Ibbys. Congrats, congrats!!!

That's bloody lovely, nice one :) I've had GAS for the oiled mahogany hardtail GAK exclusive RG for a while now, love a natural Ibanez!

The premiums always scared me a bit because, although they looked pretty nice, most of them (apart from the sig models) have the cheaper tremolos, and my experience with Ibanez's cheaper trems has been, er, "avoid them"!

That one's a hardtail though and I have to admit when I first saw it coming out it looked pretty interesting. Nice score :D

EDIT: Funnily enough, my instinct would have been to go with the natural finish one, but seeing those pics, I think that one might actually be nicer. It tones down the abalone binding a bit, I think.

Nice! i really like the look of these guitars-let us know how it plays  and I personally would be interested to hear how the Wizard neck compares to the Wizard II neck of the RGA42.

My other premium has the edge zero II with zps and it's the second most stable bridge that i've used after the Kahler 2700 on my strat. Some did have edge III's though and they are very hit and miss bridges.

Also I agree about the abalone. Usually I refuse to even consider guitars with it on. This one it doesn't seem as garish as usual. It's definitely a long way off schecter/esp abalone!

Now back onto the topic. Parcelfarce still haven't arrived!

I paid GAK £25!

Just got off the phone with them as the tracking says it's still at the Gatwick depot. In the reps own words 'it's been delayed we can't say more at this time so it should be with you on Monday'

Now GAK aren't answering the phones. Oh joy.
