his voice is too affected, too much warbling vibrato bollocks. I don't understand why so many british singers have that kind of voice to sing in - David Gray and so on. I think my major gripe is the sheer amount of money these guys rake in for mediocre musicianship, and the hype they recieve. It's decent songwriting as a product; I can understand why the masses like it, but it's just really unimaginative. You can imagine them sitting in a studio with a clipboard:
'Delicate acoustic part? Check!'
'Heartbroken lyrics? Check!'
'Resolution to a major tone in the chorus? Check!'
bla bla bla
On a vaguely related note, the drummer from Coldplay gave his dad £1,000,000 as a present the other day. Nice genorosity, but it's crazy that some bands make so much money whilst some genuinely forward-thinking musicians never see a cent. Such is the music business though, it is a business after all and the product needs to sell.
