Haha.  Just starting to get that together now.

Glam/Sleaze is coming back into fashion, and about time too.  :)

Here's a cool prog band I discovered at a Dog and Duck in Swindon! http://www.soundaloudtv.co.uk/video.php?video_id=45
They're awesome live, and they do have some more melodic stuff www.xi-uk.com .
There's nothing wrong with a bit of emotional content, I'm a fully paid up hard rocker, yet one of my favourite songs is Pain by JEW. It's cynical, hollow, sentimentalist sh*te that's the problem. That's my real problem with JB, if you sat down and recorded a song where the chorus is "you're beautiful" repeatedly in a tortured voice (sudden gratifiying mental image of JB being tortured) , it's going to go to number one. It's not good songwriting, it's the musical equivalent of a Clinton card!

I'm with ben here, most 'emo' bands are good song writers with some great pop sensabilities. But James Blunt needs 2 other people to write a song where the chorus is 'your beautiful, your beautiful, its true'.

I know i mentioned 90% of metal vocalists are cr@p singers, but the exceptions are amazing. Bruce Dickinson from iron maiden is the one i think of (I kinda hate metal so i really should be quiet...)
Mississippi Queens, Holydiver.

They are alot more country than Skynard to my ears.

Want Southern Rock with a "grin" :) try Nashville Pussy lol, kinda cramps,ac/dc,skynard and quite weird/amusing to boot.

I've heard of them, they have a tasty bird in the band too judging by the photo i saw! I'll have to check them out.

:D Soundaloud TV sound great to me liked that very much great find ! :D  My problem with JB wasn`t that it`s emo its that it`s contrived girly rubbish. Totaly & utterly fake. Designed to con. I have no probs at all with EMO stuff when it`s sincere. I was there after all when Marillion 1st broke on the scene. You want emo read the lyrics of there 1st album. "Script for a jesters tear"

The Anniversary, Cursive, Bright Eyes, The Promise Ring, Rilo Kiley, Saves The Day... Yeah thats the route to walk down.

Gets boring though - and i wouldn't wanna play it. i just listen to it because it reminds me of my childhood really - this is what i used to listen to wen i was really little and first got in to music.

Well - thankyou kindly Ben. We do try :D  Absolutely agree. A good song NEEDS emotional content - but it has to be sincere, and it has to pe part of the music, not something that's "grafted on".

Thanks too for watching the Xi video at Soundaloud TV (hehehe JT - "Soundaloud TV" would make a great band name - but I think the website owners might object). More hits on that link is what we need!!

Cheers

There must be girls (maybe boys too) who are deluded enough to think he's singing directly to them. And he's not: he's singing to his wallet.

Hmm I have a 13 year old daughter so you can guess what I have to put up with in the house (musically) :(

My appreciatio of Mr Blunt went up when I heard about this Paris adventure, for those who missed it.

Apparently he received an award in Paris (I assume it eas for record sales not any sort of quality based thing), while in his hotel room he heard some noises and when he woke up he saw a figure rummaging through his stuff.

Happily he clocked the burglar over the head with his award, knocking the unwelcome guest clean out, and being commended by the French police for his actions.

Therefore he can't be all bad, though I wish he would give up the so called music career.
