I can see how you would like the Slowhands, I don't have a full set in anything, but I have a couple in different guitars and really like the tone. I am waiting on a couple of Mothers Milks for a hardtail strat, as these are the only Strat pickups that I have never really played. I think I am putting a Rebel Yell in the bridge position (I tend to lean towards H/S/S setups - I ruined an old Strat that way years ago!), but haven't really pushed Tim on the set.
I got into Tele's late in my playing life, because I always liked Strats and Les Pauls. Even though a lot of people I liked used them, I had played so many bad ones in the 70's that I never was interested. Then I went with a friend to get a guitar for him and tried a 60's Jap Tele. I told him that if he didn't buy it I would - I still have it (he bought a Levinson Blade). After that I got hooked on the tone (though I was never into the neck pickup that much, until I got the 62).
I know how tempting it is to take more guitars with you than you really need. I used to make the mistake of taking different ones to rehearsal, then not having that one at the gig. For any gigs I am likely to play now, I can get away with 2, with one really as the backup. I wire my H/S/S with the mega switch to give me coil tap and the 'Tele' 2 pickup setting. With this I am pretty much set (though years ago I had a guiitar made with the switching I wanted, however it is so complex that you can't really use it very quickly, so I never used this guitar live!).
