Get your wiring checked out by a tech. If there's nothing wrong with the wiring and potentiometers, then maybe the pups you ordered aren't the right fit for you personally and that idealized sound in your head. I have a Nailbomb set and found them much more bassy than my EMG 81/60 setup. I just made a few tweaks, found the sweet spot on my amp and I LOVE THEM SO MUCH now. I was overly enthused, to tell the truth, at first but now I can't imagine ever playing EMGs again. Seriously, you must take into account your amp. The Marshall MG50dfx isn't such a hot amp but cuts the mustard when it comes to pure practice apps. Also take the first spin with ANY AMP in ANY STORE with a grain of salt. Most people, including myself, expect the amp to INSTANTLY produce the tone of their dreams. This almost never happens, due to a host of elements, but especially unfamiliarity with the amp. If you haven't had a few hours, you rarely can dial into its' sweet spot. Also, you don't usually get to crank that volume like you'd like and you don't have your own guitar with you (usually) AND none of those pedals and gadgets that every guitarist can't play without. I hope your pickups end up satisfying you.
