im getting mightily annoyed with me new guitar .. its a scecter c1 elite all mahog. heres t problem when i got it and ran it through my current amp (marshall mg50dfx) it sounded kinda mushy .. i put this down to being shoddy pickups and didnt worry about it until my bkps arrived. so i fitted a nailbomb at t bridge and a holydiver to the neck... they were a vast improvement .. but that is all ... when ti pile up up any gain and try t play anything even sightly fast .. the sound just mushes to cr@p :/...

the thing is ive tried this guitar with the bkps on a laney valve amp ... no difference in the smooshy sound. and i also have another solid mahog guitar which has deep bass but does not smoosh up when the gain is turned up and doesnt blurr notes together when i play fast :/

also the guitar sounds as if the tone is always turned halfway down :/ maybe its the same thing?

ne suggestions?

Get your wiring checked out by a tech. If there's nothing wrong with the wiring and potentiometers, then maybe the pups you ordered aren't the right fit for you personally and that idealized sound in your head. I have a Nailbomb set and found them much more bassy than my EMG 81/60 setup. I just made a few tweaks, found the sweet spot on my amp and I LOVE THEM SO MUCH now. I was overly enthused, to tell the truth, at first but now I can't imagine ever playing EMGs again. Seriously, you must take into account your amp. The Marshall MG50dfx isn't such a hot amp but cuts the mustard when it comes to pure practice apps. Also take the first spin with ANY AMP in ANY STORE with a grain of salt. Most people, including myself, expect the amp to INSTANTLY produce the tone of their dreams. This almost never happens, due to a host of elements, but especially unfamiliarity with the amp. If you haven't had a few hours, you rarely can dial into its' sweet spot. Also, you don't usually get to crank that volume like you'd like and you don't have your own guitar with you (usually) AND none of those pedals and gadgets that every guitarist can't play without. I hope your pickups end up satisfying you.
Ora che ho perso la vista, ci vedo di pui.

:D Check your wireing & your guitar lead as well. Also  make sure you`ve got the P/U`s set at the correct height. Turn your gain down so you have a clean sound, then adjust your P/U height a turn at a time. Use your ears, there`s no correct height as it were because every guitar is different. It`s a bit like tunning your guitar, you`ll go sharp or flat untill you narrow it down to were it`s "In Tune" as it were. When it sounds good to you it`s good  :D

Good Luck & let us no how you got on with it.
