Epi Zakk Wylde LP - any good?
« on: July 17, 2006, 02:47:52 PM »
Anyone tried one of these?  What are they like for the money?  I've seen a couple at decent prices and wondred if they were worth buying and giving a pup upgrade?

The neck felt like it was covered in glue! Feels like a very 'slow' neck; the guitar didn't sound good, either. The graphic's paint job is a joke.

You know, the usual. :)

I did like the joe perry one, as it played, felt, sounded very good. Looked like cr@p though ... good thing is, you will still get fair money for the Burstbuckers on ebay, when you order some real pickups at Tims ;)

IMO the ZW signature guitars just look tacky - It's a paint job that's so closely associated with him that to me it just looks pathetic to see other people playing it...I'm of the same opinion of the EVH Charvel's :P

As far as play goes, I've never used one so I don't know what they're like

 You could get a custom one made  Probably better than the Epi model and as good but a hell of a lot cheaper than the, (is it 4 grand?) the Gibson one. Nothing wrong with getting a style of guitar like a named player if that's what you want.

I most certainly can if the paint job looks like absolute butt!
I wasn't saying the graphic is bad (I quite like the bullseye, even before Zakk appropriated it and tried to make it look like he invented the idea), but that THE ACTUAL PAINT JOB SUCKS.

The same is true with the LTD "Kamikaze" and "M1"; if you've ever seen a real ESP graphic paint job, you would throw up at the LTD's paint ... runoff, transluscent paint that you can see the undercoats through!!

On the Epi the bullseye isn't even paint, it's a big sticker.  :(
