Argh help me with my playing! :o(

Ok so i'm playing again, and feel fine.

HOWEVER.

I'm having a weird problem when playing notes on the G string and b string

i'm learning a solo that has a slow sweep in it... which is fine, its the 1st thing i've managed to sweep properly and smoothly.

Happy maybe?

NOPE!!

Heres the pattern:

-15p19p15-------------15----20p15------------15---
--------------17-----17----------------17----17-------
------------------16------------------------16---------
--------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------

Problem i have is that the note on the G string comes across as noise rather than a note. No matter clean (even worse sounding) or distorted, alternate picked or sweeped, downpicked etc. The faster i try and play it the worse it sounds.

It kinda 'barks'.. hard to explain...Instead of just the 'note' its got a kinda overtone 'doop' type noise... i've made a small clip of the sound (save image as.. and rename to .mp3)

I also get this when doing pull offs eg

-12p9-------9--12p9-----9---------
--------10------------10------------

Seems more obvious on those types ^

Anyone offer any advice?

Even played slow i still get the sound... is it the guitars setup? Strings dont buzz\catch and i get it on my Legra and my Dean.

If i palm mute the offending string even slightly then it sets if off even worse! .

Am i just being strange or does it sound wrong???

Thanks for any advice\tips (before i hacksaw my guitar up)

Pickup heights to high, choking strings?  Or too much neck relief?  That's all I can think of.

You get it on 2 different guitars?

What amp are you using? Maybe the amp doesn't get on with notes of that frequency for some reason?

Mmm maybe they need setting up, but I wouldn't think that they both have a dead spot in the same place...
