do they all have that triangular baseplate?

i recently ordered a trilogy (did you go through with the order yet tim?)

and since my guitar has a non-triangular cavity, i'd need to file it off somehow, and would like to know if that is possible to go around with a diferent baseplate (if you guys offer any) or something else..

i'm real fast, innit? >_<

This your Charvel?  Jonathon at Feline had to make a small V-shaped cut to my Charvel to allow the Trilogy Suite pickups to fit.  IIRC, the V-shaped base on SCs is pretty much standard and the Charvel's original straight base SCs went against the norm a bit.

Jonathan recommended doing the cut (instead of getting Tim to make some special straight bass ones for me) as if I want to swap out other SCs in the future I should be able to just drop them in.  With the neat job Jonathan did and the black shielding paint he put in the hole, you'd never know it wasn't like that at build time.  :)

well, i cant do that ;)

cos there is no one in a 3h drive radius that i would trust with such a thing, the alternative is shipping it out and that is realy not an option.

i also realy dislike the triangle routs.

for mr. law i had something diferent in mind, that i'd like him to do, but we'll discuss that at a later point hehe

Filing the base out of that triangular shape would not be an option, AFAIK.  There are wires there and that kinda thing.  I mean, I suppose you could do it and then re-attach the wires, but there's a good chance you'd stuff it.

You'll have to ask BKP very nicely to make a custom narrow single coil!

You could also have the stock single coil rewound.

LOL

That's what I did; I got an EMG baseplate for my Trilogy Suite, which doesn't have that triangular shape.

You can request an EMG profile base.  I have it on one of my slowhands.  It might mean a little more delay before you get the pickup, because it will have to have the base modified to put the connections on each end.
So many pickups, so little time

You know you can get an EMG base....
Only kidding. Actually I have two of them. Just be careful if you're direct mounting them into the body on a Charvel, the pick up cover will press on the lead out wires so don't go crazy with the screwdriver.

the cavity has some leeway left in it.. and i'm thinking of puting a rosewood shim underneath, so it's not sitting on a spring, but on wood. gonna see how it fares

The wooden shim idea sounds good. I used pieces of foam from the BK box under mine.

well, the pickup is here (wow that was fast!!!)

i'm waiting so i can go to the post office and pick it up, which should be in like 20 minutes :D

pics to follow!!

picked it up, wont touch the base cos i know that, if i will, i will $%&# up the whole pickup and that is something i do not want to do, so it goes back and tim said he'll send me one with the narrow base.

thanks dude, i know it's my fault, but you're dragin me out of the mud :D much apretiated.
