Only if you buy a pedal that explicitly does Chorus/Flange/Phase.

The biggest difference is that the Phaser normally has only one stage and is voiced for distorted sounds (as its reduced complexity doesn't wash out the drive so much).. Choruses live from the multiple stages (2, 4, 8, ...) that have different delay times and feedback levels and are modulated against each other, more complex and washy, less ideal for driven sounds (unless you want a breaking up sound a la Police).

Maybe if you don't care for subtleties, you maybe don't need different pedals and can buy a combi pedal (e.g. choralflange or even to finish it once and for good: the line 6 modulation modeler)...

Yeah, if you want both you need a modulation pedal.

I know that some of the classic Police chorus sounds where actually done using the EH Electric Mistress flanger (dunno which version as there are several), and I beleive the same is true for Dave Gilmour.

You could view the chorus as being a flanger without any sweep taking place.

Get a decent modulation peddle, chorus, phase and flange all together (and any messed up combination you care to create).

I thought it was Phasers that were either in 4, 8 or 16 phases?

Chorus is basically a delayed version of what you played and then mixed back in. So is Phase and Flange, but there's differences in Mix/Rate etc which creates the different effects.

That Damage Control one looks quality!

I saw it before but it's way out of my price range.

I'm giving serious thought to trading in my V-amp pro and getting one.

MXR Flangers give a wicked chorus sound, but there's no way of getting one out of my MXR Phase 90.

So a flanger is easier to get a chorus sound out of than a phaser?

Most definately - I don't even think you can get one out of a phaser.
