I have just taken delivery / been watching / listening to a 30 year re-union concert DVD of the ( 70s ) Welsh Band 'Racing Cars'.

They only have the one guitarist now ( Graham Headley Williams ) - but he still plays with consumate taste, skill - and sincerity . I met him back stage in 1979 - and he passed me his S.G. to have a play on without a second thought. Nice guy and great sense of humour.

It was so good to be reminded of a great gig at the old FFord Green pub ( Leeds) back in 1979 - and to hear musicians that play for the song despite obvious soloing talent.

Great stuff ...  :D

Good man !

My favourites being 'Bridge Of Sighs' and 'Live'.  Happy memories of the early 70s and damm good guitar playing / arrangements as well !

I am glad that Robin captured his best moments whilst he still had the great voice and Bass playing of the late James Dewar to contribute.

Live! is not only my favourite Trower album, but probably my favourite album of all time.

I also have a soft spot for Victims Of The Fury, because it was the first one I bought as a new release, back in 1980.

I've been watching Trower clips on YouTube, and it's amazing how quiet and completely un-showy Dewar was on stage.  Just got on with the job.

Been listening to some Robin Trower myself; Twice Removed From Yesterday and Long Misty Days, both on vinyl lol. Good to hear his name going around. He is a great guitarist, extrmemly similiar to Jimi Hendrix i find, but adds his own twist to it. One of my favourite R T songs that i have heard is I Can't Live Without You, from Long Misty Days  8)

Yes, " I can't live without you "  IS a brilliant track !  On an album that sometimes went a bit wide of the mark with things like the cover of "Sailing" and such, when "I can't live without you " comes on  - you know that you are back on solid ground ... 8)

I also agree with Philly Q  that 'Victims Of The Fury' is evocative. For me it was partly because it was the one chance I got to see him live - and close up to the front too. ( Robin Trower fans being so polite in a crowd situation   :D ). I think his album art/design is also striking.

I still think that 'Live' - and the track "Daydream" on the live album is for me the orgasmic RT experience. He can still teach these 'young pups' a thing or two about creating an etherial atmosphere and the use of melodic controlled feedback .

Especially noteworthy as he achieved most of it as part of a 3 piece band .

I agree that long misty days was a bit off on the rest of the tracks, infact it's the only track on long misty days i listen to now really. I love daydream! But have only heard the version from twice removed from yesterday, i also really like the opening track from twice removed 'I can't wait much longer'. I am young and have really found my music tastes grow and develop in the past 3 or 4 years, after i found an old cd of my dad's A Tribute To Stevie Ray Vaughan', which led me onto the blues/rock side of things. I was just amazed at what i was hearing, especially from buddy guy and eric clapton on that album, as well as, of course, B.B king. It blew my mind

I saw Robin Trower in New York about 18 months ago and his playing is still great.  Take a listen to Someday Blues if you want to hear some great blues palying from him
So many pickups, so little time

Glad to hear that your 'education' is being balanced well ... :D  I used to be a hardcore Black Sabbath / Deep Purple fan, until someone took me into a bar where the local band where playing Blues. Instant conversion !

If you like " I can't wait much longer " and "Daydream" from the studio albums, then PLEASE check out the 'LIVE' album from the same era, where both of those songs get the extended treatment.
