Ofcourse I have now (only just) realised how much Thin Lizzy "borrowed" from them

Yeah, and I've been wondering if some of the early Rush material (circa Caress Of Steel) had a bit of a Wishbone Ash influence, too.

Rush toured with Wishbone Ash and have always cited them as a latter influence during their proto-metal period. (2112, Caress Of Steel, A Farewell To Kings)

Albums I went through yesterday (after midnight these parts by the way if any foreign nationals are confused)

Jethro Tull : Aqualung
Joe Jackson : Rain
Mike Oldfield : Tubular Bells
Thin Lizzy : Live album that was given away with a newspaper a while back (I won't say which as I'm too ashamed to admit my dad got the Mail, if only for the offer...)

It would have been more but rechargeable AAAs are a waste of time really and don't last long enough to be worth bothering with but my parents are getting at me for my battery consumption. So basically; I ran out of battery power.
I too use chicken as a measurement.

The Stranglers, Rattus Norvegicus, Black and White and Live X Cert.

These boys are scary and what's more scary is I've been listening to them for over 30 years!

Anyone else lke them?

Witch - Paralyzed

J. Mascis's metal side-project.  I really love the first Witch album, which is a glorious slice of sloppy, ragged, '70s-sounding stoner metal, so I was quite excited to find the follow-up in HMV today.

But this new album is much faster and more aggressive, more like punk metal or something... I don't like it.  Maybe it'll grow on me.

Hey Johnny I'm a big Strangler fan - Jean Jaques bass tone is one of my favourite of all times.
So many pickups, so little time

Too bloody sure I likr them.

They where the 1st gig I ever went to, and there where only 3 stabbings that night.

I was somewhat shocked when I found out that Hugh Cornwell played in bands along side Richard Thompson when he was younger

 8)

Which reminds me, I wish they'd hurry up and do the remastered edition of Stormbringer.  It seems to be taking forever.

Hey hey! I thought you two would like The Stranglers!! :D  Your first gig was to see these Kilby? I was obsessed by this band from the age of 11. Their whole sound mesmerised me so I'm well envious!! Where did you see them? My mate in Glasgow saw them at The Barrowlands and his Sister Karen snogged JJ Burnell!!
I agree Phil, his bass tone was just something else, it all came about by accident so I understand.

THE STRANGLERS!!! My god I love them.

My parents had 'Golden Brown' on Vinyl, and I remember listening to it constantly as a little kid. Amazing.

P.S. If you like the Stranglers, make sure you DON'T listen to the Golden Brown remix by some DJ.
