i think i like it too... i think. obviously, after all these years there are expectations and preconceptions to get past. but when i listen to it i think, this is high quality. it's well crafted and Axl's voice has changed, it's not as feral as it used to be, but it sounds great. i do think it lacks variety, the songs seem to all be of similar tempo. and there aren't really songs that stand out, not yet anyway. a couple are starting to catch hold in my mind, but then, the best albums are usually the ones that take a while to get a handle on. i didn't like Appetite For Destruction the first time i heard it!
maybe in a while Better or Riyadh and the Bedouin will sit with Coma, Rocket Queen and Estranged on my best of G'N'R cd :)
