I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Gentle Giant

The first four albums are all great but I keep coming back to Octopus.
Without a doubt the best prog band ever, and one of the best British bands of all time IMHO.

I've always wondered what they're like, but never investigated.  I must have heard some of their stuff back in the Friday Rock Show days, but can't remember it at all.

I just gave Cake's "Fashion Nugget" a spin. Still a great album. You gotta love the bass lines.

Lucie did "Sweet Child O' Mine" (quite well, I thought) and Jedward did "We Will Rock You".

I thought the weirdest one was that so-called rocker Jamie Afro did "Get Your Rocks Off" by Primal Scream, which is NOT rock despite the presence of the word Rock in the title.

Fair enough - forgot about those! Sweet Child O'mine wasn't really a rock version of the song though - at least I didn't think it was. I did rather like her though. We Will Rock you was just a mess.
I think I hate being indecisive.

It sort of is. I've sort of lost faith in X-Factor after this weekend, I already knew it was a load of shiteee but jedward are $%&#ing ridiculous  The bit where they spoke to each other in that britney spears song was comic genius though

Olly is a great singer though, I reckon he should win. Jamie is alright but a bit boring now?

I really want to smack Louis Walsh in the face. Such childish reactions to anything that he doesn't agree with. How he figured out Jamie was cheating just because he had never heard of the film that he sung a song from was ridiculous.

Anyway, back on thread. I've just had a few Blondie tracks on.
I think I hate being indecisive.

I'm not sure if Louis Walsh is intelligent enough to follow a script. Such a cretin.

Cowell is such a cretinous tw@t - he complains about how shite Jedward are, then doesn't vote them off when he gets the chance.  That show is a f*cking joke - the past two weeks the most talented singers in the bottom two have been voted off.  As I said at the time, it boils my piss

Yep. It's all about the best singers. Until it comes to TV ratings.

Yep, I don't think it was really fair on Lucie last weekend, as she clearly is the better singer out of her and Jedward, it all boils down to TV ratings and more publicity which just helps adds to Cowell's bank account.

Anyway on topic, after picking up some Deep Purple tickets I'm listening to Deep Purple - Machine Head.
BKP's own: Irish Tours, Mule(b), Black Dog(b)
BKP's had: Riff Raffs, Nailbombs

They will autotune it anyway when they release their one and only CD.

We really should stop going on about this on this thread  , but....

I don't believe it is about the best singers.  I know Cowell sometimes says "it's a singing contest", but five minutes later he says "you need to be an all-round entertainer" or "nice voice, but you're not a pop star" - basically he uses whatever argument suits him at that moment.

But it's not called "Best Singer", it's called "The X Factor" - that (IMO) means something intangible, star quality, charisma, whatever you want to call it.

Iggy Pop can't sing for toffee, but he sure as hell has "The X Factor".  Hardly anyone on XF (the show) ever does.  That includes Leona Lewis, by the way, who's beautiful and has a fine voice.... but all the personality and charisma of a fencepost.

At least John & Edward are entertaining - that means they deserve to be there, IMO.  And somebody's voting for them.
