Currently listening to / researching from Elkie Brooks / Martin Taylor on 'You Tube' performing " Travelin' light'.  :)

( I've just left the link on the Jazz thread if you are interested ).

Elkie Brooks having spent two tours gigging with Tim Mills of course .  :D

Went to see her a few months back in Wimbledon - she's still class

(and I've got a live album of hers with the afformentioned Mr Mills on guitar :D)

Brilliant mate !

I'm glad the Lady still has so strong a gift ; in her case no doubt getting better as the years pass.  Do tell which live album it is ; also do I assume correctly that the 'other' Tim Mills collaboration is the 'Circles' album ?

I must confess to being out of touch with Elkie and her work for some years ;  it is nice to hear that one of the B.K.P family actually seeks out that sort of 'class act'.   Are you sure you didn't just go because Metallica had sold out ?

It's "The Pearls Concert" - found it on spotify, I think, and then managed to get it from the US via Play.

At the same time, went looking for her website, found she was playing just up the road, bought the tickets :D.

The first date got postponed, so I was a little worried that mebbe she was winding down... but we needn't have worried :D

Thanks for posting that  information Andy .  :D

It will be great to hear how the two notable 'names' worked together. Especially as there is something from both parties that has brought us pleasant distraction over the years.  I will save the pleasure,  till I have a relaxed hour or two to ( like yourself )  initially 'Spotify' - and later acquire .

Cheers !  :)

Jethro Tull - Stand Up

My favourite Tull album. Just found out they are playing a gig just up the road from me on Monday night, I haven't seen them live in about 8 years so I think I'm gonna grab some last minute tickets!

darkthrone - circle the wagons

some really old-style pre-black metal, raw thrash, a bit of doom and a lot of oi! and punk. with an absurd necro-native-american cover, and a killer and deliciously primitive production. their best album from the times of transylvanian hunger and panzerfaust. true genius...

just a promo, though... it will hit the stores in april.

Band Day of Fire, song "Lately".  Good straight up rock and roll.  Has a great high energy riff in it, blues pentatonic lead is in G and is very straight forward.  The chording is actually more challenging than the lead....  Great party band song.
I won $50,000.  Spent $45,000 on sex, drugs, and rock and roll.  The rest I wasted.

fenriz' red planet - engangsgrill/split with nattefrost

ok, fenriz has always been one of my idols... in darkthrone, of course, but even more in his solo project isengard. these are 3 tracks of... well... RAW doom rock recorded on a 4-track tape (like isengard) and released on friends pressures years later...
great.
