On first impressions it's very, very good, maintaining the more aggressive, modern power trio feel of the last couple of albums. Haven't heard the songs enough times for them to stick in my head yet, but there's lots of great singin' and playin'.
Rush somehow manage to keep coming out with great, vital-sounding music even after 40 years. OK, I know many people will regard it as dad-rock which was uncool even in 1977, but to me they're a truly progressive band who've rarely, if ever, dipped below par (maybe a bit in the synthy period during the mid-'80s...).
My only complaint (and it's a small one) is that their sound is very "dense" these days. When they do a ballad, it doesn't quite have the delicacy of something like "Different Strings". But I can live with it!
