I've been listening to Johnny Doom's Metal at Midnight show on Planet Rock (...yes I am an old person....)

He plays some good stuff, but the show annoys me - it's only an hour a week, but without fail two-thirds of the tracks are things he's already played in the previous two or three weeks.  The same Amon Amarth track two weeks in a row, the same Grand Magus track three weeks in a row... it just seems extraordinarily lazy.

BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

I really like Grand Magus!

This week I have been listening to the rough of my next 17-minute long prog indulgence, The Eye Of Fire And Fear, Part III . Hope to mix it in the next few days, but gotta find 10 free hours first!

It's like he didn't skip a beat since Hearbreak Station; still a killer songwriter and the octave fuzz at the end is brilliant.

I got the Tom Keifer album a couple of months ago.  I was a big Cinderella fan, so glad to see something new from him.  It's the same kind of rootsy rock they went after on Heartbreak Station, and he's still great at it.  I'd have liked a few more of the rockier tunes, but it's his record :)

Seemingly, he had serious issues with his voice in recent years, and he's lucky to be able to sing now at all.  You can certainly hear that it's not the voice it was, but it's still good to hear.
cry HAVOC!! and let slip the pigs of war!!!

I know I'm a Philistine, but I never really liked Cinderella after Night Songs and a couple of the rockier tracks on Long Cold Winter.

That more rootsy, bluesy Americana thing doesn't really do it for me.

I will investigate this Tom Keifer solo stuff though, it would be wrong to dismiss it without hearing it!

A few different Alcatrazz live recordings with Yngwie.

Such a *hot* band back then for a couple of years. Really good sound, good songs and Yngwie still manages to keep it in check.
