Pickup spliting (humbucker to single coil etc)
« on: October 31, 2006, 12:40:49 PM »
Hi, just a quick question really,

Has anyone used either a :blackdog set/Mule set/mule neck..blackdog bridge with 4 push pull pots?

I just want to get a few ideas (if people have done this) about if they sound as good as they do when used as the normal humbucker.

Any comments are welcome...

Thanks.

I've got a coil split Mule in the bridge of one of my guitars.  The single coils are very useable and I've chosen to have the screw coil as the split for the greatest difference in tone from the full humbucker.  The screw coil gives a clear and bright single coil tone, almost like a Tele bridge pickup.  The slug coil sounded more like the middle pickup of a Strat.

I use the split coil for cleaner arpeggio parts and it works great!
