Well, I decided getting a Wah instead of a Distortion pedal

But I never tried any Wahs so which ones are the best?

If you can afford them the best wah is probly the ZVEX WAH PROBE
The BUDDA BUDWAH is ment to be really good as well!
I had a VOX CLYDE MACCOY and didnt like it really nasty wen used clean.

I've been through the whole 'boutique wah' thing. The BEST imo was the modded wah I got from Stuart Castledine (www.wah-wah.co.uk) but a 70s Jen Crybaby will get you 90% there for around £60 on ebay.

I've bought a number of wahs including a Dunlop Crybaby 535Q, then had the pedal modified by Stuart Castledine (wah-wah.co.uk) then bought a Boss V-Wah PW-10 and also used my Korg Ax-30 G wah. I sold them all and finaly settled on a Teese wah, which I liked the best - a bit more vintage styled than the rest. I would go for the Picture wah or they also do a custom one called a Wheels of Fire wah, which I ended up getting. If you're on a budget, there's always the Dunlop Crybaby Original, which I heard a guy playing last night at the beer festival in Belfast!

Well.. I should probably post the styles I play..

It will mostly be used for Hard Rock/ Metal, but it's always nice with some versatility ;)

I like the switchless design - you stand on the pedal & it turns on, take your foot off & it turns off - foolproof (Antagproof even :))

Plus the pedal is spring loaded to be fully "back", so the first sound is an "upward" wah rather than the "downward" one you get from a crybaby.

Not much more than the original crybaby & a good deal less than some of the other models.

You can even get a Bad Horsie II for less than that....

I hated wah pedals untill i did some of these mods! Increasing the size of the sweep and doing the vocal mod really makes the wah easier to use and a lot less quacky. Its really cheap to buy a basic vox or crybay and a handfull of resistors and stuff then experiment to find the sound you want!
