Do you think this guitar had a schecter plate on the back once?

No, I suppose they must be referring to guitars with bolt-on necks.  All their early guitars were sort of luxury versions of Strats and Teles, a bit like Tom Andersons now (Anderson's a former Schecter employee, I think).

As long as it sounds good and isn't poorly made i don't mind.

Honestly, at that price it can't be a bad deal.  When you started this thread last night I was very tempted to bid on it myself, but that would have been unfair!

from HC -"I took the guitar home, stripped off the horrible blue paint, and refinished the gorgeous ash body that was lurking underneath." hmmm -sounds familiar?

If it was ash the wood would look different to the neck wood, however in this case it looks the same on both neck and body, and i don't think you make necks out of ash so it has to be maple.

That's my theory anyway, which review is that?

I'm not fond of trems because I don't like the way the guitar loses sustain when you drop the pitch

only when you do a complete dive bomb.

listen to my clip on the players room, i could do that bit, after the main riff for hours, literaly

Now I see what you mean!  Point taken!
