TSL100 vs. JCM800 clips here!
« on: January 21, 2007, 08:38:26 PM »
I am a obsessive moron idiot. Always comparing shite and feel like wasting time usually. Never the less this is my latest obsession. I have both of these amps here and did a ton of tests. TSL is good because it can do low volume recording 25 watt VPR. So I did some tests with the 25 watt on and off against the JCM800. I got to return one in a few days.

Please download the zip and tell me what you guys think. My $%&#ing ears are bleeding. Try to keep in mind not to favor the "louder" clips.

It is a blind test! Each folder contains a similar riff. Out of those folder you pick the one you like best.
ex:
A - 4
B - 8 and so on

Thanks for feeding the obsession!

To be honest matey, we're talking pretty subtle differences here aren't we!

For me, the ones that just had a bit more clarity (and therefore got my vote) were:

A - 15
B - 18
C - 5
D - 5

I must admit, I had to listen to everything several times to make a choice.

Thanks for the time. Yes I expected bigger differences but your right subtle differences. You choices are interesting. 2 were same exact amp and setting. Other two the TSL. I will post answers later and winning amp.

They sound like they could be the same amp.

B is the most little different. Were I to guess I'd say thats the 800, the first one sounds 800 and the last two also sound TSL, but like I said: I get the impression you could get those sounds out of either amp.

I dont really have a strong prefference.

Bring on the metal test!

Hi MDV actually each folder contains both amps with some tweaked settings some with a OD infront of JCM.

So you gotta pick your fav out of each folder. Some that sound very similar are actually same amp but one with hot plate.
