is it just me or has gibson really been falling short on thier quality control latley. i was up at GC trying out a 6505+ and i must have gone through every gibson in that place before giving up and grabbing a schecter.
the backs of the necks on most of the guitars i tried had a sandpaperish/unfinished feel to them around the neck joint. one was even sticky! sticky, like the finish hadnt even cured yet. the intonation was out on all of them, glue was running from underneath the frets, all kinds of shotty workmanship. i wouldnt have bought a single one of those guitars.
am i the only one whos noticed this? i own a gibson flying V from 04, albiet i did re-finish it myself and there is a bit of glue leakage that i cleaned up, but other than that it plays like a dream, and this is a guitar that cost $650 plus what i put into it to re-finish it and all that good stuff. the guitars im talking about range all the way from the les paul studios to the explorers and Vs to the $2500 gold-tops. i honestly will not buy a gibson again. when i get my explorer, im gonna have it custom built by legra or something.
anyways, am i crazy or is it my guitar center or is it really happening?
